The story begins at the time when Chilean wine exports started to get going. Montes started in 1987 with an annual production of about 3,000 12-bottle cases. The company was described as a ?boutique winery?, making small quantities of high quality wine.
A bright ruby red colour with tones of violet. The delicate nose offers exquisite aromas of red fruits including sour cherries and fresh strawberries as well as ?oral perfumes of roses, violets, and wild -owers. Subtle notes of fresh tobacco intermingle with candied aromas over a backdrop of dulce de leche (caramel). Generally smooth on the palate with rich acidity on the mid-palate that lends juiciness and heightens the fruit. The tannins are very smooth and round, and the weight on the palate lends character and structure to this Pinot Noir, leading to a long, elegant nish with abundant coastal-climate typicity.
