Pago de Tharsys is a 12-hectare estate based at Requena, some 70 miles inland from Valencia on Spain's eastern coast. The vineyards are located on the plateau above Requena, 650 metres above sea level and face south and are planted in poor sandy soil with excellent drainage. The continental climate means that summers are hot and dry and winters are cold with occasional rains. Perfect for the cultivation of the various grape varietals grown at the estate which include Macabeo, Chardonnay, Bobal, Albari?o and Tempranillo.
Earth, rubber, leafy notes, spice and plum aromas carry the nose on this 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo. The mouthfeel is full and tomatoey, with snappy acidity pushing minty, herbal flavors of red plum, currant and raspberry. A light, medicinal flavor defines the finish.
