Dewar's has announced Caribbean Smooth, an 8 year old blended Scotch Whiskey finished in Caribbean rum casks. \n \nCaribbean Smooth is the first expression in a new line of cask-finished whiskies that Dewar's will be rolling out over the next few years. Earlier this year, the SWA (Scotch Whiskey Association) amended their rules to broaden the types of casks that can be used to mature Scotch Whiskey, and Dewar's has hinted that they're experimenting with these new casks. Perhaps we'll see Tequila, Mezcal, and Calvados finished expressions from Dewar's in the near future? \n \nCaribbean Smooth is described as having “subtle notes of apple, caramel, and biscuity cereal that slips into dark brown sugar and tropical fruit.” \n
